A cyclist from Poland has broken his own Guinness world record by climbing 3,139 steps up the Taipei 101 skyscraper on a bicycle.
It took Krystian Herba about 2 hours and 12 minutes on Sunday to complete his latest stunt. Herba jumped his bike from the first floor of the building to the 51st floor, before taking the elevator back to the first floor and climbing all the way back up to the observation deck on the 91st floor. He was required to remain on his bike the entire time.
Herba said the most difficult part of the challenge came from the height of the stairs, with each one about 20cm high. He said he has been preparing for the Taipei challenge for more than six months and his training has included running, gym work, and jumping on his bike in a 17-story building in Poland.
The bike enthusiast has completed ten similar challenges since 2009. The 509m Taipei 101 building was the world’s tallest building from 2004 to 2010.
