Taiwanese business leaders and officials attended a US-Taiwan business forum in Washington DC on Monday.

Taiwan’s delegation met with over 30 representatives from large US corporations such as 3M and DHL to discuss possibilities of working together in Asia.

Top officials such as Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel, Taiwan’s representative to the US, Shen Lyu-hsun, and American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Chairman Raymond Burghardt attended the seminar.

US-Taiwan Business Council President Rupert Hammond-Chambers said it is important to maintain US-Taiwan trade ties as both countries discuss the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). He said that the US and Taiwan should build up economic ties in the Asia Pacific and that the two countries could play a leading role in increasing business opportunities in the region.
