New figures released by Airports Council International on Friday show that Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport was the world’s tenth busiest cargo airport in 2014.
The airport dealt with more than 2.08 million tons of cargo in 2014, an increase of 6.2% over 2013. The sudden increase in volume pushed Taoyuan Airport up five places in the global rankings.
Hong Kong’s international airport retained its spot at the top of the rankings after seeing a 5.9% increase in cargo traffic last year. Following Hong Kong came Memphis International Airport, the home base of FedEx. Rounding out the top four came Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport and Seoul’s Incheon International Airport.
