The Foreign Ministry announced Monday that it will award President of the Dominican Senate Cristina Lizardo Mezquita the Order of the Brilliant Star.
The Foreign Ministry says it is conferring the award on Lizardo in recognition of her contributions to bilateral relations between Taiwan and the Dominican Republic.
Lizardo is currently leading a group of 12 Dominican dignitaries on a visit to Taiwan. It is Lizardo’s fourth visit to Taiwan and her first overseas trip since her election as President of the Dominican Senate in August last year. During her visit to Taiwan, Lizardo will meet with President Ma Ying-jeou, Legislature President Wang Jin-pyng and visit landmarks such as Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
