A tropical depression off the coast of Taiwan and a cool weather system in the north are likely to bring cooler weather and rain on Monday and Tuesday.
Central Weather Bureau forecasters have downgraded Tropical Storm Maysak to a tropical depression. They say it is currently located about 450 km off the southern tip of Taiwan. Meteorologists say the tropical depression is moving in a northwesterly direction, and that boats in the Bashi Strait should be on the alert.
The Central Weather Bureau said on Sunday that the clouds surrounding the tropical depression Maysak could bring drought relief. But they said the storm could also bring temperatures as low as 14 degrees on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, forecasters say that Tropical Storm Haishen, which formed on Saturday is now moving toward Guam. They say that the storm is not likely to affect Taiwan in the short term, as it is still about 3,500 km away.
