Taiwan’s former deputy representative to the United States, Eleanor Wang, has been named spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. That’s the word from the foreign ministry on Thursday.
Wang returned to Taiwan earlier this month after a six-year posting in the US. Taiwan’s representative to the US, Shen Lyu-shun praised Wang’s performance in Washington DC. Wang was promoted from chief of the political section at the representative office in the US to deputy representative last year.
Wang is said to be qualified for the new post because of her experience with media affairs while working as a section chief at the former Department of Information and Cultural Affairs in Taipei.
Meanwhile, outgoing spokesperson Anna Kao will become head of the foreign ministry’s Department of European Affairs.
