Taiwan and Slovakia signed a working holiday agreement on Tuesday. The foreign ministry said young adults looking to gain work experience while traveling in Slovakia can submit applications for the program starting June.
The reciprocal program allows 100 Taiwanese nationals aged 18-35 each year to work and travel in Slovakia for up to one year. Slovakia is the sixth European country and the 11th in the world to have signed a working holiday agreement with Taiwan.
Working holiday programs have proven popular among Taiwanese young adults in recent years. Most of the programs offer positions for applicants aged 18-30.Taiwan has similar agreements with Germany, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.
Slovakia is a landlocked nation in Central Europe with a population of 5.5 million. It is bordered by Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east, Hungary to the south, and the Czech Republic and Austria to the west.
