The chairman of Taiwan’s Straits Exchange Foundation Lin Join-sane left for his first trip to China this year on Tuesday. He is leading a delegation to Yunnan and Shandong provinces to attend meetings with Taiwanese businessmen there.
Lin is also set to meet with his Chinese counterpart Chen Deming, the Chairman of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits. Lin and his delegation plan to visit the national research center of cultural industries at Yunnan University and the Yunnan Provincial Museum. They also will visit the Confucius Temple in Shandong and meet with Taiwanese businesspersons in the southwest and northwest regions of China.
Lin said China’s Taiwan Affairs Office Minister Zhang Zhijun and other Chinese officials will visit Taiwan as well. He said cross-strait exchanges will go on as usual. Lin was speaking in light of the recent student protests in Taipei over the cross-strait trade in services agreement.
