Taiwan will continue to protest on the World Health Organization’s (WHO) address of Taiwan as a province of China. The 67th World Health Assembly will be held on May 19 in Geneva. Taiwan will be participating as an observer for the sixth time under the title “Chinese Taipei”.
In 2010, the WHO addressed Taiwan in an internal document as a province of China. Foreign ministry official Tom Chou said on Tuesday that Taiwan will continue to protest to the WHO.
Chou said that the WHO never gave a direct response. He said the foreign ministry will continue to solicit more support from other countries. But Chou said as an observer, Taiwan has been receiving the same fair treatment as other observers.
China sees Taiwan as part of its territory, even though Taiwan and China have been ruled separately for more than 60 years.
