Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen is going to visit the United States this month.
On May 29, she will leave for a tour of six cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington DC, New York, San Francisco and Houston. She plans to meet with overseas Taiwanese as well as youth. She also will visit high-tech companies.
The DPP did not reveal which US officials Tsai would meet with. It did say though that the party has good communication and interaction with the US and both sides believe it is not convenient to reveal any news of their meetings. But Tsai will likely talk to US officials about cross-strait ties and US-Taiwan relations. The DPP said the US welcomes Tsai’s visit to the US.
Tsai’s US trip will last 12 days. Tsai will bring a delegation of 19 persons with her including DPP Secretary General Joseph Wu and lawmaker Hsiao Bi-khim.
