The Philippines has begun issuing electronic visas to members of Taiwanese tour groups arriving at the country’s Kalibo International Airport. Group members arriving Wednesday became the first Taiwanese passport-holders to receive electronic visas from the Philippines.
The move is part of a test-run that will allow Taiwanese visitors on group tours to enter the Philippines at four airports with an e-visa. The Philippine representative office in Taiwan says the new e-visa policy should be extended to cover ordinary Taiwanese travelers on July 1.
Philippine representative Antonio Basilio says he hopes the new policy will encourage Taiwanese tourists to visit the Philippines and strengthen bilateral exchanges.
