Farglory announces halt to work on Taipei Dome
Dome on hold

The Farglory Group has announced that it will halt construction of the Taipei Dome after the Taipei City Government ordered work to cease. The city government cited concerns about potential damage to nearby structures including a historic landmark and the Taipei Metro’s Bannan Line, which runs next to the construction site.

Farglory announced a stop to work on Thursday. The company said it received a written notice from the city government late on Wednesday. It also said it has already submitted a plan on improving safety at the construction site in response to a request from the city government. However, it denied that there is any risk to the historic site or the metro line.

In a press conference on Thursday, Taipei City Deputy Mayor Teng Chia-chi said that Farglory has repeatedly failed to provide a clear plan about how to address the risks posed by the construction. He said this is why the city government has ordered a stop to work.
