Ma lauds policy to attract overseas Taiwanese to study in Taiwan
Welcome back

President Ma Ying-jeou is lauding a policy to attract foreign-born Taiwanese to study in Taiwan. On Friday, Ma told a gathering of former Malaysian students that this policy has been “the most successful” of the government’s education policies.

He also said it is now easier for foreign-born Taiwanese students to stay in Taiwan to work, helping Taiwan retain talent.

Ma told the gathering of students that when he took office, the number of Malaysian students in Taiwan was only around 4,000. But Ma said that figure has now grown to more than 13,000, making Malaysia the second biggest source of foreign students in Taiwan.
