Threat against EVA Air plane a false alarm: CAA
FBI investigation

The Civil Aeronautics Administration says that a threat targeting an EVA Air passenger plane was a false alarm. The CAA made the announcement Wednesday afternoon.

EVA Air says that the US Federal Aviation Administration notified the airline that it had received a threat about chemical weapons aboard flight BR12. The flight departed Taipei on May 26 and was headed to Los Angeles. After the plane landed in Los Angeles, the FBI and airport police conducted a four-hour check but found nothing suspicious on board.

The FBI and airport police returned the plane to EVA Air after the search. But an investigation into the person or group responsible for the threat is still ongoing.

The Civil Aeronautics Administration says that U.S. authorities have received several threats against U.S.-bound airplanes in recent days. But all of them have proved to be hoaxes.
