Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Chairwoman Tsai Ing-wen will be arriving in the United States on Friday for a 12 day visit.
During the trip, Tsai will call on leaders in US political and academic circles as well as important figures in high-tech industries. During her trip, Tsai will be visiting Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C, New York, Houston and San Francisco.
The highlight of her tour will be a three-day trip to Washington D.C. There, she will exchange views with lawmakers and government officials about Taipei’s ties with Washington and Beijing. Tsai has said that the DPP’s China policy is focused on maintaining the status quo across the Taiwan Strait. While in Washington, Tsai will also deliver a speech on Taiwan’s vision for the future at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
In San Francisco, the last leg on her journey, Tsai will be attending a forum on innovation and cooperation between Taiwan and the United States to be held by Stanford University.
The DPP chairwoman is scheduled to return to Taiwan on June 9.
