Temperature in Taipei reached 36.5 C Saturday afternoon, the highest reading so far this year.
According to the Central Weather Bureau, the scorching heat was recorded at 1:45pm and was the result of warm southwestern winds. Temperatures in the nation’s capital topped 35.7 C the previous day, but forecasters said the sweltering weather could ease up on Sunday as rains are expected across the country.
