Taiwan will recognize diplomas from 18 more Chinese institutions of higher education starting in August. That’s the word from the education ministry on Friday.
Deputy Education Minister Huang Pi-twan said that Taiwan currently recognizes diplomas from 111 universities in China. But among them, only three are specialized colleges.
“Originally in the field of special education, we only recognized three schools in Beijing—the Beijing Sport University, the Central Conservatory of Music, and the China Central Academy of Fine Arts," said Huang. "But there are actually a lot of outstanding institutions for sports, music, and fine arts in different parts of China. That’s why we expanded the scope to 18 more schools.”
The 18 schools include 15 specialized colleges and three research institutes – the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
