Taiwan braces for the heat; fog expected in outlying islands

The Central Weather Bureau is predicting a week of high temperatures over much of Taiwan, as a front that brought rain over the weekend moves north.

Meteorologists say that most of Taiwan can expect clear weather and high temperatures of up to 36 C. There is also a chance of hot, dry winds in the southeastern part of the island.

The weather bureau is warning travelers about the possibility of afternoon thundershowers in the mountains and the northeast of the island. The bureau is also cautioning travelers planning to visit the outlying islands of Kinmen and Matsu to prepare for flight delays or cancellations. Forecasters say that fog and low clouds in the area will limit visibility.
