The Sports Administration has launched a campaign to select the ten best cycling paths in Taiwan.

The event will accept submissions from local governments, the administration offices of Taiwan’s national scenic areas, and the Director-General of Highways. A panel of judges will then pick thirty finalists, which members of the public will be able to vote on beginning in August. A final selection is expected at the end of October.

Director-General of the Sports Administration, Ho Jow-Fei says that Taiwan-made bicycles are well-known worldwide, and that Taiwan has the world’s densest concentration of cycling paths. Ho says that the campaign aims to get the public to experience the joy of cycling while promoting Taiwan as an international cycling destination.

Taiwan currently boasts 4,486km of cycling paths, and a path circling the island is expected to open by the end of the year.
