KMT presidential hopeful Hung Hsiu-chu has held a press conference outlining her cross-strait, national security and diplomatic policies.
Former minister Chen Chien-jen said this is the first time the KMT has held a primary for its presidential candidate. Chen praised what he called Hung’s courage and vision. Former foreign minister Ou Hung-lian and former Straits Exchange Foundation Deputy Chairman Chiu Chin-yi also gave Hung their backing.
Hung is the only person running in the KMT primary. Public polls scheduled for Friday will decide whether she qualifies to be the KMT presidential candidate. The results will be announced on Saturday.
