Eleven Taiwan universities make top 100 in Asia University Rankings
NTU down three notches!

Eleven Taiwanese universities have earned a spot in the top 100 places of the Asia University Rankings.

The rankings are drawn up annually by UK-based Times Higher Education magazine. This year’s rankings were released on Wednesday.

Taiwan has the fourth largest number of universities in the top 100 places, coming after China, Japan and South Korea. National Taiwan University (NTU) is ranked highest at 17th. However, this is down three notches from last year, reflecting an improvement in the performance of universities in other countries. NTU said that it will continue working to improve.

Meanwhile, the University of Tokyo has continued its streak as Asia’s top university.

The performance of the universities was measured using 13 indicators in five main categories -- teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income.
