Premier Mao Chi-kuo says that a coast guard exercise held on Saturday demonstrated the progress Taiwan’s Coast Guard has made in the past seven years.
At a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Mao said that the size of Taiwan’s coast guard fleet has more than doubled in the past seven years. He said that this has increased Taiwan’s ability to control its territorial waters and mount rescue missions at sea. Mao said that the Coast Guard will continue to protect Taiwan’s fishermen within legal boundaries.
