A Taiwanese tourist is now in stable condition after spending a night trapped in a crevice in Australia.
The 27-year-old man was reported to have lost his way when he fell into a 20-meter deep crevice on Thursday in Australia’s popular tourist attraction of Uluru. He was reported missing later on Thursday, and rescuers were able to locate his position after an aerial search. They spent a long time on Friday trying to get the man out of the crevice. The rescue involved crossing a steep rock face and going down into the crevice to pull the man out. Once the man was winched out, a helicopter flew him to a hospital.
A hospital spokesman said on Saturday that the man’s condition has improved from critical to stable.
