Labor Minister Chen Hsiung-Wen said a committee set up to deliberate raising the minimum wage will begin work this month. Chen was speaking on Monday.
An initial meeting of the committee’s working group will examine the cost of basic necessities, Taiwan’s GDP, and the Consumer Price Index. He said the working group will bring its findings during a meeting scheduled for August.
Chen declined to comment on the potential impact of falling oil prices on the feasibility of raising the minimum wage.
