The 13th annual Urban Nomad Film Fest is set to kick off in Taipei this May. The annual film festival will present a diverse lineup of independent films from Taiwan and abroad.

A total of 30 feature films, documentaries, short films and animated films will cover topics such as music, art, sex, same-sex marriage and other social issues.

The festival will open on May 9 with "99%: The Occupy Wall Street Collaborative Film," an American documentary about the Occupy Wall Street movement. The festival is set to close on May 18 with "Jalanan," an Indonesian documentary that follows the lives of three Jakarta street musicians.

This year's Urban Nomad will also include a new category featuring Taiwanese indie music videos. A cash prize of NT$10,000 (US$331) will be awarded for the best music video. Organizers say that bands and video directors will attend the festival to discuss their work.
