The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) is welcoming Taiwan’s continued participation in the United States’ visa waiver program. The news came on Monday via the United States’ new representative Kin Moy.
In a statement on Wednesday, the foreign ministry said continued participation is the result of the efforts of the government and people of Taiwan.
Taiwan was first admitted into the program in November, 2012. The United States reevaluates participation every two years, so officials came to Taiwan in 2014 to see how the program was working. The goal is to make sure that Taiwan is following security regulations and exchange the information required in order to participate.
