Taiwanese southpaw Chen Wei-yin of the Baltimore Orioles has been moved to the minor leagues on Tuesday. That’s after Chen threw eight innings of no hits during a Monday night game against the Phillies.
US Yahoo Sports reporter Chris Cwik said that the move by the Orioles is questionable. Cwik said that Chen will miss playing against the Toronto Blue Jays who are hard on left-handed pitchers. The Orioles optioned Chen to the minors citing general fatigue for which he will be resting for 10 days. Cwik said that’s less than 15 days given to injured players.
However, Cwik said that Chen is not taking the demotion lightly and has gone on his personal Twitter account to voice his frustration. Chen could become a free agent after the season is over.
