The US Senate has passed an act that invites Taiwan to participate in the Rim of the Pacific exercise (RIMPAC), the world's largest international maritime exercise.
The Senate passed the 2016 National Defense Authorization Act on Thursday. The act also encourages Taiwan to participate in “Exercise Red Flag”, which focuses on air combat.
On Saturday Taiwan’s foreign ministry spokesperson Anna Kao expressed gratitude to the US Senate for promoting military cooperation with Taiwan.
