China has the highest incidence of gastrointestinal cancer in the world. That’s according to Dr. Shi Ruihua, the head of gastroenterology at Zhongda Hospital in Nanjing, China.
In a Chinanews.com report, Shi said that China sees 400,000 new cases of gastrointestinal cancer every year. He said that a local preference for eating: foods that are too hot, pickled foods, and fatty foods, is to blame.
Shi also said that these dietary factors were compounded by a low rate of early detection.
