Traffic picked up on the nation’s highways as the Dragon Boat Festival drew to a close on Sunday.
Highway authorities say that Highway Number 5 was already experiencing delays by 9:30 on Sunday morning. The route sees a lot of traffic because it’s a smaller highway linking Taipei with the popular northeast coast, via the nation’s longest tunnel – the Hsuehshan Tunnel.
Authorities urged travelers to begin their journeys before noon, and to visit http://1968.freeway.gov.tw for the latest traffic information. The web site shows real time traffic information in a color-coded map of the nation’s highways.
