The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) says Taiwan and China share the same views on the issue of Chinese tourists making transit stops in Taiwan. That’s the word from MAC spokeswoman Wu Mei-hung on Friday.
Wu said the two sides have held three rounds of talks and are consistent in their views. However, Wu said more preparation is needed and there are details to be finalized before the plan to allow Mainland travelers to make layovers in Taiwan can be put in place.
Wu also said the stopover issue has nothing to do with the shortening of three flight routes requested by China. Beijing has asked Taipei to adjust the routes so that they are more cost-effective and energy efficient.
