President Ma Ying-jeou on Sunday met with victims from Saturday night’s blast at a local water park.
As of Sunday afternoon, there were still more than 400 people in hospital – many with burns caused by an explosion of colored powder during a party at the park.
In a visit to Taipei Veterans General Hospital on Sunday afternoon, Ma said he was shocked and saddened by the incident. He said that the government would do everything in its power to offer medical assistance, and help families receive compensation.
Ma said the government would also do its best to determine the cause of the blast, who was to blame, and to reexamine public safety policies.
