Taiwanese tennis player Hsieh Su-wei beat Kaia Kanepi of Estonia to make it to the second round of the Wimbledon women's singles. Hsieh defeated Kanepi 6-1, 6-4 in just 57 minutes.
Hsieh said the win has helped increase her confidence. This year is the seventh time Hsieh has played in the Wimbledon women’s singles.
Hsieh announced that her four-year cooperation with her Australian coach Paul McNamee had come to an end. Her brother Hsieh Cheng-yin is now her coach.
Hsieh, aged 29, admitted that the fame brought by her victories at the Wimbledon and French Open doubles events was a source of stress. The media is paying more attention on her and everybody has high hopes for her. But she said she is more relaxed with her brother by her side.
Hsieh will be paired up with Flavia Pennetta of Italy as the seventh seed for the Wimbledon women’s doubles.
