The foreign ministry says a total of eight foreign nationals were injured in an explosion in a water park in New Taipei last weekend.
The ministry made the remarks on Tuesday. The explosion has killed one person and injured almost 500 people. Among the foreign nationals injured, one is from the UK, one from the US, two from Japan, two from Malaysia, one from South Africa, and one from Singapore.
Foreign ministry spokeswoman Anna Kao said the South African suffered only minor injuries and left the hospital after being treated. The Singaporean has returned home to receive further medical care, while the rest remain hospitalized in Taiwan.
The blast occurred Saturday, when colored cornstarch powder being sprayed towards the public exploded and burst into flames at a party held at Formosa Fun Coast Water Park.
The incident left 494 injured, one of whom died Monday. As of Monday night, 393 people were still hospitalized and 221 were being treated in intensive care units.
