President Ma Ying-jeou spoke on Friday at the opening of an exhibition marking the end of World War II. The president said there are no winners in a war.
President Ma said the war was important for Taiwan because the end of the war also brought an end to Japanese colonial rule.
Ma also said that commemorating the end of the war is about highlighting the fact that there are no winners in a war and that countries should never start a war.
