A shipment of cadaver skin donated by the Euro Tissue Bank in Amsterdam is expected to arrive in Taiwan Saturday. The shipment will help Taiwan treat people who suffered severe burns in a fiery explosion at a water park in New Taipei last week.
Some 500 people were injured during a party at the water park when colored powder that was sprayed on partygoers exploded and burst into flames. The powder was made of cornstarch, which is flammable. Two people have died and more than 200 are in critical condition.
Manager of the European skin bank, Ger Kropman, decided to make the donation and contacted Taiwan’s representative office in the Netherlands after learning of the tragedy on CNN.
A first shipment of cadaver skin arrived from the United States late Friday.
