The Central Weather Bureau is warning of strong surf along stretches of Taiwan’s coastline. That’s in light of Tropical Storm Linfa, which is approaching from the south.
In particular, the bureau is warning people to be vigilant along the east coast, southern and southwestern Taiwan, the northeast coast, and on Orchid Island and Green Island.
The northeastern county of Ilan measured waves as high as 1.5 meters at noon on Sunday.
The Central Weather Bureau is urging caution, since it’s difficult to predict the occurrence of strong surf and it can result in injuries and fatalities. The bureau launched an instant messaging system to warn of strong surf on June 30th; with the first warning issued on Sunday at noon.
