The government’s statistics office announced on Tuesday that Taiwan’s jobless rate dropped to 4.03% in March. That’s a fall of 0.06 percentage points from February.

The number of first-time jobseekers in March was down 1,000 from a month earlier. Meanwhile, the number of those who quit jobs to look for new opportunities rose 1,000 from a month earlier.

But after seasonal adjustments, the March jobless rate rose 0.01 percentage points from a month earlier. Statistics office official Lo Yi-ling said that there is no need to worry at this point since it is only a slight rise.

Lo said that stable growth in the economy has brought about the slowdown in the overall jobless rate. She also said that the rise in the number of those employed indicates that the job market is stable.
