A 23-year-old dentistry student has become the fourth victim to die from a colored powder blaze that occurred at a water park in late June.
On Friday, Su Chia-sheng died in a New Taipei City hospital. His family agreed to donate his organs after he was pronounced brain dead.
Some 500 people were injured during a party at the Formsosa Fun Coast water park when colored powder that was sprayed on partygoers exploded and burst into flames. The powder was made of cornstarch, which is flammable.
Also Friday, a 22-year-old victim was discharged from a hospital in Taipei after recovering well from his injuries. Another 18-year-old victim being treated in a hospital in Taipei can now breathe unassisted.
As of Thursday, 420 of those injured remained hospitalized, and 277 of them were still being treated in intensive care units. A total of 224 people were still listed as being in critical condition.
