Taiwan's tax revenue up nearly 10% in H1

Taiwan’s tax revenue rose almost 10% in the first half of this year largely on the back of an increase in personal income tax and corporate income tax collected.

According to statistics compiled by the Ministry of Finance, Taiwan collected NT$1.19 trillion (over US$38 billion) in net tax revenue in the first six months of this year. That’s up 9.8% from a year earlier. The amount was the highest ever collected in the first half of any year.

The Ministry of Finance said that the government set a goal of collecting a total of NT$1.946 trillion in net tax revenue for the entire 2015, and the figure in the first half of this year already accounted for over 60% of the target. The ministry said if tax revenue growth in the second half remains as high as in the first half, Taiwan’s 2015 tax revenue could surpass the government target.
