Taiwanese athlete wins women’s tennis gold at 2015 Universiade
Taiwanese tennis player Kelly Chang

Taiwanese tennis player Kelly Chang won gold in the women’s singles division at the 2015 Universiade in Gwangju, South Korea on Sunday.

Chang beat Luksika Kumkhum of Thailand in two straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.

While Chang’s coach gave her top marks for the victory, Chang herself was a bit more reserved. She said that rain had forced organizers to move the match indoors, which meant that the ball moved a bit slower, and she didn’t have to deal with wind.

Chang went into the games ranked 201st in the world. She was once in the top 100, but a wrist injury in October, 2013 took her out of competition until last summer.
