The amount of goose and duck liver Taiwan imports from France has grown rapidly in the past few months. Taiwan imported eleven tons from January to April alone, just after imports of French poultry and meat products were legalized late last year.
French newspaper Le Figaro reports that France’s exports of goose and duck liver to Asia are growing. Overall production has grown apace, with France producing 19,300 tons of goose and duck liver last year. This makes France the world’s biggest producer of goose and duck liver in terms of volume.
While exports grew, domestic consumption has fallen, with the average French person consuming 276 grams each year. That’s a drop of about 9% over the past four years.
