The 2015 Bio Taiwan Exhibition has opened in Taipei and will run through Sunday.
The Bio Taiwan Exhibition is the largest biotech exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region. This year’s exhibition has attracted more than 600 companies taking up over 1,200 booths. Exhibitors include companies from the US, UK, Japan, Switzerland, India, Singapore and South Korea.
Domestic biotech companies including Medigen Biotech and the Taiwan Liposome Company will also be exhibiting.
During the exhibition’s opening ceremony, President Ma Ying-jeou praised the growth of Taiwan’s biotech industry. Ma said that turnover in Taiwan’s biotech industry increased by 51% between 2007 and last year. He also said that the total number of biotech companies in Taiwan increased by 46% between 2007 and last year, showing the robust nature of Taiwan’s biotech sector.
