Taiwan lifted its travel warning to Seoul on Tuesday after the South Korean government declared an end to the outbreak of MERS there. MERS stands for Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. The disease has claimed 36 lives in South Korea.
Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said the number of people diagnosed with MERS in South Korea has remained at 186 for the past 23 days with no new cases reported.
Taiwan also lifted its travel warning to Bahrain on Tuesday. Previously, Taiwan had banned its nationals from traveling there since the first confirmed case of MERS was a 68-year old South Korean man who visited Bahrain. No MERS cases have been reported in Taiwan.
