Taipei Exchange says Intel is set to issue 30-year bonds worth US$1.007 billion in mid-August. The 30-year securities will pay a 4.9% coupon.

President of Taipei Exchange, Lee Chi-hsien, said on Thursday that Intel has not yet made a formal application, but the bonds will likely be issued on August 11. This will be the first time that Intel has issued bonds in Taiwan. Valued at US$1.007 billion, Intel’s bond issue will be the third biggest US dollar-denominated bond issue in Taiwan.

Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission removed foreign-currency bonds from insurance companies’ overseas investment cap last year. This has made Taiwan a more attractive destination for issuing bonds. As of July 29, foreign companies have issued 72 US Dollar-denominated bonds in Taiwan. These issues are worth US$18.495 billion.
