Taiwan is providing support to help its Central American ally Belize to tackle climate change.

In a Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) press conference on Tuesday, local time, Taiwan’s ambassador to Belize, Benjamin Ho, announced that Taiwan is making a donation to the foundation. The PADF is a non-governmental organization initiated by former US President John F. Kennedy. The PADF is supporting a series of development programs in the Americas, and Belize will be the fifth country to benefit from the program.

Ho said that climate change is a global issue that has led to disasters and losses in many countries. He also said Taiwan hopes its donation to the PADF program will enhance Belize’s preparedness to face climate change.
