Taiwan defeated the United States 11-6 on Friday to clinch a place in the finals of the 2015 U-12 Baseball World Cup of the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC). The tournament is being held in Tainan, southern Taiwan.
Taiwan remained unbeaten in the competitions of the Super Group consisting of six national teams who are vying for the title of the championship.
In another two games played on Friday, Cuba beat Japan 5-2 and Venezuela topped Nicaragua 9-3.
As of Friday, Taiwan was in the lead of the group with four wins and no losses, followed by the US with three wins and one loss. Cuba and Nicaragua were tied at the third with two wins and two losses.
The tournament kicked off on July 24 in Tainan with players from 12 countries participating. The competitions of the opening round were conducted on a round-robin basis and divided into two groups of six national teams each.
The finals are scheduled to be held on Sunday in the southern Tainan City.
