Taiwan is set to play in the final of the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) 2015 U-12 Baseball World Cup against the United States.
Taiwan was defeated by Nicaragua 2-1 Saturday evening in Tainan, southern Taiwan, but the host country remains qualified to play in the final. The defeat on Saturday was the first suffered by Taiwan in this tournament that kicked off on July 24 with teams from 12 countries participating.
In other games played Saturday, the US topped Cuba 6-5 to clinch another place in the championship final scheduled for Sunday, while Venezuela beat Japan 4-2.
After concluding the competitions in the Super Group, Taiwan and the US were the top two finishers in the group with four wins and one loss, followed by Cuba and Nicaragua with three wins and two losses.
