Taiwan finishes second in WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup
Go, Taiwan!

Taiwan’s team took second place in the 2015 WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup on Sunday. They lost to the US team 2 to 7 in Tainan. The U-12 Baseball World Cup is the most elite under-12 world championship in this age category.

The young players on the Taiwan team were in tears after losing the championship. Despite the loss, fans at the stadium were very supportive. They shouted “ROC team! ROC team!” after the game was over to comfort the young national team. Over 11,000 people attended the Baseball World Cup at the Tainan Municipal Baseball Stadium.

The Taiwan team started off the first two innings leading 2 to 0. But in the third inning, American player Davis Diaz hit two home runs which gave the US a 5 to 2 lead. Taiwan tried to catch up but wasn’t able to face the tremendous pressure of the championship game.

Taiwan’s players were very grateful for the fans’ support and waved to them after the game to thank them. The fans responded with thunderous applause for the nation’s young team.

With the U-12 Baseball World Cup over, 10 players have been selected as superstar players. Three of them were Taiwanese.
