The Central Weather Bureau says Typhoon Soudelor is likely to affect northern Taiwan this coming Friday.
The bureau said on Monday that the typhoon is located about 2,600 kilometers away from the island and is moving northwest.
The current trajectory shows that the storm will arrive at waters off the northeastern part of Taiwan or at about 500 to 600 kilometers away from the island on Friday morning.
The outer rim of the typhoon, the 13th this year, could affect northern Taiwan till Sunday. It will bring showers to the region with temperatures dipping 3 to 4 degrees Celsius. The rest of Taiwan is also likely to see sporadic rain.
